Day five (by Darius Hall)
Hey everyone!
One more day left! It has been rough for us but we made it through. Everyone is ready to get back now. Bamberg comes after we leave. Good luck, guys! Make them work hard, Chris and Arne!!!
Well, I would like to ask you this question: Why are the hotel beds so close? First of all, we are above average human beings. So we require large beds. The beds are so close that if I fart my roommates blanket blows up.
I will tell you a little bit about our roommate situation. I think the coaches choose by different personalities. I have Ali and he is cool. So we balance each other out. Darren has Ronald. Ronald listens to his hip-hop all day and Darren is country. :-) Charles is with Hartenstein. I don't think he stayed in his room at all because he's scared. He thinks Hartenstein could be Frankenstein. Toby and Campbell are together. The two oldest guys on the team. :-) Cheese (Chad Prewitt, Anm. d. Red.) and Hen (Hendrik Feist, Anm. d. R.) are together. They sleep all day! Flavio and Peavy are together. Peavy listens to music or watch TV because he can't sleep unless there is noise and Flavio don't care because he is on the phone all the time. But this is crazy: If we have breakfast at 9 a.m. Peavy sets his alarm at 6.30 a.m. and hit snooze until 8.50 a.m.
So you see we all are different. But we work together as a team. I hope we will be good this year and reach all our goals.
By the way, Flavio won "death uno" tonight.
Be safe.

Day four (by Darren Fenn)
Training camp: day 45. Last night many of the Dragons were introduced to „death uno“. „Death uno“ is a game I was taught in Bamberg, but only truly learned after my teammates there took at least 100 euros off of me. Needless to say a bunch of us were bored last night and Flavio had some uno cards so the match began.
I am sure that many of you are familiar with the children's card game of uno. This has absolutely no similarity to that game whatsoever. Basically anyone can jump in at any time as long as they have the exact same card as what is showing on the deck. It is an incredibly fast game in which players are constantly playing out of turn, forgetting their turn, and generally just getting confused. The confusion works out great for anyone who knows the rules, of which there are at least 10,375,521. There are always four or five people talking at once. Usually they all played a card and all have a reason why their play was valid.
The nice thing about last night's game was that our team put some twists on a game that wasn't theirs, turning it into our own. For instance, in the original death uno game looking at another players cards or telling anyone else at the table what someone has is strictly forbidden resulting in a harsh penalty. In the Dragon version these tactics are not only legal but promoted. According to Nate this was the only way he could win. While morally questionable, these tactics make the game even rowdier since everyone is shouting across the table with information on everyone else's hand. The rules are always somewhat of a gray area anyway, so I was glad to see us make up some of our own.
Anyone who wants a challenge should come join us for a game of „Dragon uno“. Just make sure you bring some money, and pray you don't lose your voice...

Day three (by Darius Hall)
Hey everyone,
another day of practice is over. Thank goodness! We have been working really hard so at the end of the day we are glad it’s over.
The routine is pretty much set. The easy part is basketball practice. The hardest part is meal time. We eat three times a day. After breakfast, everything is a turkey shoot! Now I'm not the one to turn down a meal but I have to admit that this food doesn’t convince me at all.
We eat “Gemüse” (yeah, I know some German...) for everything. Gemüse fries. Gemüse steaks. Gemüse bread. Gemüse tea. Gemüse milk. Gemüse ice cream. Gemüse coffee. See the pattern? Who ever the chef was when I came here years back: Please come back. I have never been more hungry AFTER a meal in my life. I lost six kilos this week. :-) I can't wait to get to QB (Quakenbrück, Anm. D. R.) to hit the Steakhouse for some real food. Meat! A T-Bone steak is calling me: "Come DHall I'm waiting for you."
Another blog will come tomorrow from Darren. Even if you like his blogs better, don’t say it in my face. ;-)
Enjoy the rest of your weekend while we are still practicing and practicing and practicing...
Be safe.

Day two (by Darren Fenn)
Hello dragon fans and anyone else who reads German basketball websites!
This is Darren writing from training camp. So far it has been two practices a day nonstop. The players are getting a chance to know each other and the chemistry seems good. Different personalities are starting to shine through.
Charles has been getting picked on a little bit for always saying the wrong thing, but it is all in good fun. Folarin talks and looks like he is a 15 year vet. Toby called him “sir” yesterday, but then realized he is like 19. Here is another little piece of trivia for you: Nate combs his beard out and that's why it goes down to his belly button. Ronald and Cha Cha (Achmadschah Zazai, Anm. d. R.) have been trying to see who can use up the most energy and still not be tired. It’s like watching two tornadoes in practice, or maybe two tazmanian devils. And Toby stays with his L.A. swag.
As for the big men, we are all walking around like tin men left out in the rain too long. According to “double R” (Ralf Rehberger, Anm. d. R.) though, we don't have it too bad. There is a handball team here as well, and apparently “double R” saw their practice schedule. He keeps telling me that they practice 18 hours a day, with a one hour break at noon for bread and water and five hours of sleep so none of us should complain. I'm pretty sure he isn't telling me the truth but then again I do know how serious Germans take their handball.
Alright, that's all for today. DHall will write back tomorrow.
Be safe.

Day one (by Darius Hall)
Hi everyone,
this is DHall. This is my first time writing a blog so bear with me. I'm not Adam Hess so don't expect the same as him. You don't know how much work we do. So I will try to give you some insight of our training camp. We started team practice on Monday. We practice twice a day everyday for two weeks. Now normally we get a schedule of practice times (when and what time). In training camp, the schedule just says training camp. You don't know when or what time or how long or how many times a day. We are at TL (Thorsten Leibenath, Anm. d. R.) beck and call. If he comes up with some crazy idea, and says practice at 5 a.m. we have to do it. (I hope he's not getting any ideas).
Everyone this year is cool. I can't lie and say I won't miss Hess, Mac, PJ and my best friend for years Jan. I understand it's the business. Still won't make it easy.
I have to write later this week so I will end here. I hope u like it or it is funny a little bit.
Talk to you later.
Be safe.
